Islamic terrorism in Western Europe
AANVRAAG DATA - For facilitating discussion per request the terrorist attacks in Western Europe between 1970 and 2014 were split between Islamic and other groups. The number of Islamic terrorist attacks is low, the number of people killed by it are high the last 10 years.

We previously showed the impact of terrorism attacks in Western Europe (Dutch), including 2015. The recent Paris attacks made 2015 the worst year since 2004.
Several readers requested the data to be split between Islamic perpatrators and other groups. The graph above shows the split for the number of attacks.
The graph below shows the split for the number of people killed by these attacks.
Islamic attacks 1970-2014: 0,8%
Islamic attacks 2000-2014: 1,4%
Killed by islamic attacks 1970-2014: 5,2%
Killed by islamic attacks 2000-2014: 52,2%
Detailed figures for 2015 are not yet available on the same level as the other data.

Aantal doden per jaar door terroristische aanslagen in West Europa sinds 1970
DATA VAN DE DAG - Bij de aanslagen gisteren in Parijs zijn naar nu bekend zeker 130 mensen overleden. Dat maakt dat voor West Europa 2015 qua terrorisme nu al het meest ernstige jaar is sinds 2004.
Toenemend terrorisme wereldwijd
DATA VAN DE DAG - Na analyse van de nieuwe gegevens in de Global Terrorism Database komt een stijging van terrorisme wereldwijd naar voren. Vooral in het Midden-Oosten en zuidwest Azië waren veel aanslagen in 2014.
Stijging terrorisme in de Europese Unie
DATA VAN DE DAG - Het aantal terroristische aanslagen in de EU is van 152 in 2013 naar 201 in 2014 gestegen (NB: zie update onderaan). Het aantal dodelijke slachtoffers daalde van 7 naar 4. Die vier vielen allemaal bij religieus geïnspireerd terrorisme. In dit geval islamitisch.
